FUN FACTS: 1950′s TELEVISION

- The “Today” shows early ratings were not very promising, and the producers wanted to make the show more entertaining. So they added a chimpanzee named J.Fred Muggs who became an instant popular star in his own right.
- CBS and NBC both introduced their logos in the 1950′s. CBS had the “eye” with clouds in the background and NBC used to have an 11 feathered peacock.
- Pittsburgh was the first city to develop a channel exclusively dedicated to educational purposes in 1954.
- The first commercial to broadcast coast-to-coast was showing both the Golden Gate bridge and the Brooklin bridge simultaneously. A great feat for 1951!!!!
