Self motivation as actors is not only important, is fundamental if we ever plan on making a living out of it. If acting is just a hobby for you then you dont really need to push yourself to try and find new gigs, outlets, contacts and auditions, but if you are seriously involved you need to go even beyond just that. Its hard sometimes, especially when you have been turned down many many times, to keep striving, keep hoping, and keep working hard at something you might never see major results in.
