SIR MICHAEL CAINE: ACTING IN FILM

His book has been a success due largely to his familiar tone and approachability. Here is a snippet of an interview:

METHOD ACTING BASICS FOR NEWBIES

So for all of you new actors starting out who dont exactly know what it means when people say “I’m a method actor!” ModernTimes has a little page on the basics. Even so, I strongly reccommend you familiarize yourself with all of the techniquies and schools available to the modern actor (Stella Adler, Meisner, Stanislavski…etc) and then figure out what teachings are most in tune with your personal beliefs and will easily tap into your creativity… For the full article….Click Here

BOOK REVIEW: THE STANDUP COMEDY by Judy Carter
Like every week we post a book review on a subject related to acting, health, personal growth or anything related to the showbiz industry. This time it’s Judy Carters manual to “Stand Up Comedy”.

SO SAD…

Dear fellow actors,

Much to our shock and disappointment (It always is to see someone in the profession be selfish and not want to help out other people…specially when given full credit for it). One of the authors from a monologue posted here at Breakalegg, Peter Petralia has contacted us to threaten us with taking legal action if his monologue is not removed. As such, and because we will never post something if the author is against it, we have removed “BUNNY’S LAST NIGHT IN LIMBO” (female, contemp) from our archive. We hope none of you were counting on being able to access it again for free (God Forbid!), and so let you know that you can contact the source directly if interested in this great monologue (a shame the writer feels the need to keep others from achieving their greatness) at www.proto-type.org

LOOKING YOURSELF UP ON GOOGLE…
We have all been there. You use google to search for someone you just met, to verify something a date told you, to find info on your favorite actor. But what happens when you do? You normally get both sides of the story. The good and the bad harsh critics. So if you are thinking of searching for yourself…be ready.

SUBSITUTION IN ACTING

The Acting Room has a great post on how to substitute to achieve real emotions. I personally believe this is useful to start with, but once you have connected, you need to feel the characters emotions as your own, not substitute them. Make his emotions yours, not the other way around…

HAPPY NEY YEAR…..ITS 2009!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From Breakalegg we wish you all the best luck and …May this year bring you all MUCH SUCCESS and JOBS!
