LOOKING YOURSELF UP ON GOOGLE…
We have all been there. You use google to search for someone you just met, to verify something a date told you, to find info on your favorite actor. But what happens when you do? You normally get both sides of the story. The good and the bad harsh critics. So if you are thinking of searching for yourself…be ready.

REPRESSED CREATIVITY…

Productivity 501 has a good article this week worth checking out that talks about why as we get older we lose certain levels of our creativity due to our “social” behavior. To see the full article… Click Here.

HOLD YOUR HORSES! DEVELOPING PATIENCE

In modern times we are used to getting things done fast. Whether it be due to a lack of time or in other cases laziness, we like immediate results. But ACTING IS A MARATHON, not a fast sprint. So its imperative that as actors we develop a patience. You will spend alot of time waiting for a call, or an answer, or even success…

AGING IN FILM…

Except in some rare exceptions, aging sucks no matter what profession you are in. The mind works better and just as fast as at 30 but it just seems like the packaging doesn’t follow. Now add on to that that this profession is one which involves the factor of beauty, youth and health, and you have yourself a dilemma.

QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF BEFORE GOING INTO THE ACTING BUSINESS

Any business person planning to invest time, energy, and his life savings in a new business commits himself to relentless research. He interviews people in the field, checks the library and/or theinternet for information, and conducts a market survey to see if there is a need for his product.
In many ways, an actor is no different than any other business person. To enter the marketplace in an effective way, the actor needs to analyze his product by coming up with clear, concise answers to a series of essential questions that you need to ask yourself..

HOW TO AVOID FEELING ISOLATED
Becoming an actor is a wonderful and exciting experience, but there are many moments one questions if its worth all the hardship. And when that happens a new realization comes along: there isn’t always others around to listen (and actually understand)…

DEALING WITH REJECTION..
Sometimes actors are accused of having extremely high egos, vanity and even cockyness. Let me say aside from the few who really do believe they are “a gift to the industry and the world” actors generally have very high sensitivity, suffer from insecurity, jelousy, shyness and more important: deal with rejection almost every day….

CHARM AND SCREEN POTENTIAL
It is impossible to tell someone’s screen potential by just looking at him. Nobody knows what the “secret ingredient” is, and until you see an actor on the screen doing his work, you can’t tell what’s going to happen. There are just some fortunate people out there whom you, an I, and millions of other people want to look at…

WHEN YOU LET YOUR PERSONAL LIFE AFFECT YOUR JOB
For some artists their job is their safe-haven. When they are in a bad personal situation they can immerse themselves into their craft and forget about it for hours, days… For actors that is practically impossible. The difference lies…

TAKING A VACATION FROM AN UNSTEADY JOB?

First of all let me get things straight: auditioning and managing your career IS a job. You have many responsibilities both on a daily level as a longer-term level, so if you don’t feel like you are working hard even without having a steady role, then you are doing something very wrong.

Calling your agent (or finding one if you don’t already have it), same with your manager or publicist, going on auditions, interviews, memorizing sides, studying in class and on your own, reading up on your career, updating your resume, going to callbacks, working out….

BE UNAPOLOGETIC AND EMANATE CONFIDENCE

One of the biggest mistakes that new actors make is being a little too cocky or even disrespectful thinking that it would project more confidence and casting directors or producers would look at them as if they were someone who stands his own. WRONG!

People can read through silly tactics that only make you look bad, immature and like someone they don’t want to work with. But worse than being cocky is being insecure and…

HELPING NEW ACTORS

A lot of people in the industry think of newcomers as competition. Let me take that back. A lot of ignorant people in the industry think of newcomers as competition. Why? Because they figure these new faces or all other actors have a chance at taking their job or earning money they somehow believe belongs to them. With all due respect: bullshit!

If there is anything I have learned in this business, is nobody steals your roles. You get the roles meant for you. Period. If they come fast and big; good for you! If it takes a little more hard work and…
