For the daily needs of actors trying to make it big!!!
So I finally gave in and spent 15 dollars to go see AVATAR this weekend.The visual effects of the movie are in no doubt in a league of their own and so will not be the focus of what I am going to discuss. To the thousands of graphic artists involved from sketching and concept, to animation 3-D or lighting… BRAVO!.
Now, what I really wanted to review is the “substance or lack-there-of” of this multi-million dollar investment.
James Cameron is creating a closer relationship between two world that up to now mainly collaborated by simply using eachothers marketing push to sell more of their own: the video game publishers and the movie industry. Lately there have been alot of blogs covering the story about “My Life In Ruins” actress Nia Vardalos’ comments about movies about women. Amongst these times its always good to look at the facts. Showbiz party planners have begun to scale back soirees as part of industry wide belt-tightening. Several congloms have canceled their holiday bashes, while others are simply toning down the revelry. After-preem bashes are also being reassessed in this economy.
Sometimes, stars don’t have to work and sweat their way to a first gig. Sometimes, their dads, mothers, relatives or friends give them that shot. Is it fair? Is it decent.
Let me put it this way. CONTACTS are fundamental in this business. Making them from scratch or having some come as inheritance makes no difference. [...]
